Ipod VS ???

CNet is running a story saying that the MP3 player market is set to explode. This brings up a thought that I've been on for a while regarding Ipod and it's competition. I personally own a Rio Karma and my wife owns a 15gb Ipod. I personally prefer the Rio Karma by far. The menu navigation is more robust, the player plays practically every format available (other than ITunes), the battery life is better, and the Karma is cheaper! So why is the Ipod so popular? Advertising. You haven't heard anything about the Karma or others because they primarily make MP3 players unlike Apple who has been in the computer business for years and has money to lose on the MP3 market in order to later develop the sector. if you want advice about what player is best check out MP3.com. You might also look at the Rio Carbon (smaller, bigger HD, better battery than the Ipod Mini.

i'm waiting for a device that will play video, audio, keep my contacts, and my schedule. And it would be handy if it could snap photos and video.

That I would pay $300 - $400 for. maybe i'm cheap tho.
