oscar

Ok, my rant for the moment. Not that I care about the stinking Oscars in any way shape or form...but...I'm a little ticked that Mel Gibson didn't get props for Passion of the Christ. I mean, he doesn't have to win, but a nomination would have been nice. It was the 3rd highest box office hit of the year for crying out loud! it was entirely done in a dead language! i mean...seriously! ...this is obviously all politics. I guess they could turn their heads the other way when it was Peter Jackson and the storyline was a bit more vague in Return of the King, but not for The Christ.

Their denial of nominating this film is not unlike their denial of the truth behind it.

They are supposed to look at the art...not the politics behind it. They are hypocrites and fools.

I completely agree. I also think that the Oscars, SAG awards, Golden Globes, etc. etc. etc....are all a bunch of junk. But you already knew that.

Honestly, I'm surprised "Passion" got any nominations at all. No doubt, the movie deserved a Best Picture nomination, Gibson a best director nod and Jim Caviezel a best actor--he portrayed every possible emotion, and in another language at that!--but I think we all knew that wasn't going to happen, and for the very reason you offered, Dave. My only consolation: "Fahrenheit 9/11" got TOTALLY snubbed.
